Romelu Lukaku slams Belgium fans for not appreciating him enough
Romelu Lukaku has taken a swipe at Belgiumâs fans on the eve of the World Cup after claiming he does not get the backing he deserves.
The incendiary remarks could ensure a frosty reception for the Manchester United striker when Belgium face Portugal in a friendly in Brussels on Saturday.
Lukakuâs comments also add to the tensions around Englandâs final Group G opponents after manager Roberto Martinez came in for criticism for omitting popular midfield Radja Nainggolan from his 23-man squad for the finals.
Lukaku is Belgiumâs all time leading scorer with 33 goals from 66 appearances but he used a press conference at their training base in Tubize on Wednesday to turn on those fans he feels have not given him enough support.
Lukakuâs younger brother, Jordan, a left back with Lazio who is also going to Russia, had triggered matters when he claimed his elder sibling did not get the praise he should.Source: Google News Belgium | Netizen 24 Belgium
